About Julia Schüler

Julia Schüler is a guitarist and arranger with a deep affinity for world music. In her concerts, she merges the expressive power of classical guitar with folkloric influences from Turkey, Brazil, and other musical cultures. Her programs open emotional soundscapes where virtuosity meets sonic depth.

After years of focusing on classical repertoire and winning prizes at competitions such as “Jugend musiziert,” she discovered - through her former mentor Carlo Domeniconi - the rich musical traditions beyond the Western canon. Inspired by his work, she began arranging music from Turkish, Kurdish, and Brazilian traditions for solo guitar.

She studied at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden with Thomas Fellow, Reentko Dirks, and Nora Buschmann, where she explored the artistic dialogue between tradition and innovation. Her bachelor’s thesis focused on adapting Turkish folk music for classical guitar, and she expanded the instrument’s repertoire through her own arrangements, including works for guitar, voice, and string ensemble.

Julia deeply values musical exchange and community, which she actively pursues through organizations such as Ethno. Having participated in Ethno camps across Europe, including Denmark and Austria, as well as being part of a vibrant Berlin-based community where musicians regularly share and teach songs, this collaborative spirit greatly inspires her artistic work. Although classically trained, she embraces the dialogue and connection fostered by these experiences, enriching her solo performances.

She is currently preparing concert performances in Turkey and working on a new solo album. In addition to her live work, she is active on YouTube and regularly publishes sheet music and digital content. Julia’s artistic vision is rooted in openness, cultural exchange, and a commitment to fostering understanding across boundaries. She believes in the power of music to promote peace, freedom, and the courage to live authentically - challenging societal norms and embracing diversity in all its forms.

World Music on Classical Guitar

Live Music Program

In her program World Music on Classical Guitar, Julia Schüler invites her audience on a musical journey across cultures. Her repertoire features arrangements for classical guitar from various countries – including the yearning tones of Turkish musical traditions and the vibrant melodies of Brazilian music. The deep emotional power rooted in both cultures resonates through every piece. With her expressive and refined guitar playing, Julia manages to move and captivate listeners alike.

She also performs works by Italian guitarist and composer Carlo Domeniconi, her mentor, whose compositions are influenced by Turkish, Arabic, and Indian music. Inspired by his innovative approach, Julia explores various tunings and sonic textures in her own arrangements, drawing out the full expressive range of the classical guitar.

During her studies at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden (2015–2019), under Thomas Fellow and Reentko Dirks, the Angermünde-born guitarist released the world music album KATIJU (2019) in collaboration with a singer.
